Chung Youn Duo

Renee Youn is a Korean-American pianist with an extensive career in solo and chamber music. She has performed in various venues including Alice Tully and David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center, Paul and Morse Hall in The Juilliard School, Steinway Hall, The World in Times Square, Aspen Music Festival, Hyundai Performing Arts Hall in Seoul, Korea and the Austrian Embassy in Istanbul, Turkey.  She is fluent in a wide-ranging classical and contemporary repertoire as well as performing on movie soundtracks and commercials.

Renee received her Accelerated Bachelor and Masters of Music degree from The Juilliard School in 1997 and her graduate diploma from The New England Conservatory in 2000.  Renee was awarded the Morse Teaching Fellowship, the Secondary Piano Teaching Fellowship, The Honorary Scholarship for Piano, and the Arnold and Clarice Levy Scholarship for Piano while attending The Juilliard School.

Renee is originally from New York and recently returned to the United States after living abroad for ten years with her family in Hong Kong, Australia, Turkey and Russia.

Junah Chung viola, Renee Youn piano. Junah Chung’s dynamic and imaginative playing has been featured in recitals in America and internationally in venues from Korea to Iceland. Recent performances include performances of Mozart Sinfonia Concertante in Seoul, and Vaughn Williams Flos Campi with the Musica Viva  in new york city. He was the assistant principal violist of the Iceland Symphony and is currently the violist/violinist at The Lion King. He also appears at The New York Philharmonic, The Orchestra of St. Luke’s and American Ballet Theater. A passionate chamber music musician, he is the founder (with his wife, the violinist Ragga Petursdottir), of the Greenburgh Chamber Players, and often appears at festivals such as The International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, The Bright Lights Music Festival in Iceland, and Korea’s Daejon Chamber Music Festival. Mr. Chung graduated with a Masters from Juilliard in 1996 where his viola teachers were Lillian Fuchs and William Lincer. He studied chamber music with Joseph Fuchs and Felix Galimir. Mr. Chung is active as a teacher privately and is on the CUNY Graduate Center faculty.
