Bash The Trash

**RESCHEDULED. SEE TIME CHANGE BELOW**

Bash the Trash (BTT) brings science-based environmental arts education, performances and hands-on events to communities, schools and cultural institutions. Founded in 1988 by the husband-and-wife creative team of John Bertles and Carina Piaggio, BTT builds and performs with unique musical instruments made from recycled and reused materials to engage children, families and educators throughout the US and abroad. We reach over 60,000 students a year in live performances and residencies, and more through web-based instruction and interaction. Our core ensemble consists of 30+ musicians, dancers and artists across the country from Hawaii to LA to Detroit, and of course here in the NYC region. BTT provides professional development for teachers and arts educators through The Kennedy Center; master classes for graduate students at Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music; and internships, apprenticeships and training programs for our own ever-growing stable of performers and teaching artists. BTT is a staple at festivals, concert halls, performing arts centers and other venues, including biannual concerts at Carnegie Hall. In 2018 Bash the Trash was honored as an “Outstanding Family-Owned Business” by Westfair Communications.
