The Barn Owls

“The Barn Owls” are a group of good friends from the River Towns who have been playing music together for three years. Each of us has her or his own distinct musical preferences, resulting in a very eclectic mix of songs in every set. For example, Bill Salton, the lead guitarist, has a special fondness for vintage rock and blues — he can be heard singing and playing riffs for such songs as B.B. King’s “The Thrill is Gone” and Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home;” Stacy Hirsh, the rhythm guitarist, has a great feel for country rock, and enjoys singing such tunes as Linda Ronstadt’s “Willin” and Bonnie Raitt’s “Angel From Montgomery;” Adam Brown, the drummer, contributes edgier numbers such as Ernie Doe’s “A Certain Girl” and The Ramones’ “Don’t Come Close;” and Dan Blum, the bassist, has a taste for more contemplative songs such as George Harrison’s “Beware of Darkness” and Dire Straits’ “Brothers in Arms.” The result is a presentation of a wide variety of material in each set — in other words, something for everybody!
